YSU vs Kent State B-ball
« on: November 14, 2015, 07:57:27 PM »
YSU down 7 at half.  We're getting crushed on the boards and our zone is brutally slow to rotate.  getting punked inside.

Matt Donlan  has shot the ball well.  Slocum needs to have Jordan Andrews and Donlan on the court at the same time.  Santiago has held up well at point guard.  Bobby playing tentative.

79-70 Kent.  Cut it to 3 late in the game.

I'm hopeful. But I have no expectations.

I see another losing season. Bad defense still, and still relying on chucking up 3's.

I was at the game and my impressions is our inside defense is horrible. We are unable to rebound or block shots and we are forced to play zone to hide this weakness from our bigs on defense.

On offense Hain forced it early but was getting good looks in the 2nd half. I expected Kent State to blow them out because of all the new faces and with a minute left it was a 3 point game which was a plesent suprise.

On side note I stayed and watched akron vs cleveland state. Cleveland State can not score and they know it thus they go full court press extremely aggressive defense.

I dont know how well we match up vs the press but with them being unable to score and us scoring vs Kent state i like our shot

This is laughable. Get Bigs and can't rebound or score inside. Another 20 loss season coming up !

Coach says 4-6 weeks for Bryce Nickels with fractured ankle. Also Hain only had 3 days practice all preseason. I hope for better results Wednesday.

Bobby came on strong in the 2nd half. Having Umude in foul trouble hurt since he 's our best athletic big.  Kaufman needs to step up his game.  He and Nickels didn't do  a whole lot on the Bahama trip and I'm hoping they step up. Slocum needs to coach them up on rebounding.  Rebounding is about effort and our bigs were slow to the ball.

Would love to see Andrews and Donlan on the floor together. Those two can really stroke it.

On to Toledo.
