INDIANAPOLIS -- Youngstown State senior Heidi Schlegel (Wapakoneta, Ohio) is the Horizon League Women’s Basketball Player of the Week while Valparaiso’s Jasmyn Walker (Muskegon, Mich.) is the Freshman of the Week for the week of Jan. 12-18. This is the second time in three weeks that Walker has collected the honor.

Youngstown State (13-3, 2-1) matched up in one conference game this past week against Cleveland State. The Penguins defeated the Vikings, 79-65, with the team shooting 50 percent from the field during the contest. Three student-athletes tabbed double-digit points with all five starters contributing to the point spread.

Schlegel led Youngstown State at home notching her sixth double-double of the season and first in conference play. The senior netted a game-high 25 points versus the Vikings and shot 66.7 percent from the field on 10-of-15 shooting. In addition, Schlegel shot 83.3 percent (5-of-6) from the charity stripe. Schlegel also grabbed a season-high 18 rebounds to round out the double-double.

Valparaiso (4-13, 0-4) suffered two home losses over the week to Oakland and Wright State. Despite the losses, the Crusaders has strong performances from underclassmen in each win.

Walker led Valparaiso over the week and recorded her second double-double in the last four games versus Wright State. The freshman just missed a double-double against Oakland with nine points from the floor and team-high 10 rebounds. Taking on Wright State, Walker netted 16 points and grabbed a game-high 10 rebounds. For the week, she averaged 12.5 ppg and 10.0 rpg while shooting 45.5 percent in field goals.

Valparaiso takes the road to face Milwaukee on Wednesday, Jan. 21 for an 8:00 p.m. ET tip-off. Youngstown State hosts Wright State on Thursday, Jan. 22 with competition beginning at 7:00 p.m. ET before heading to Oakland Saturday, Jan. 24. All Horizon League games will be streamed on ESPN3, respectively.

Top Players of the Week:
Nola Anderson, Oakland (So., G): Collected her first career double-double at Valparaiso with 17 points and a career- best 12 rebounds.
Ruvanna Campbell, UIC (Jr., F): Grabbed 21 rebounds and nine points at Detroit and set a career-high 24 rebounds against Oakland in addition to her 21 points.
Ellisha Crosby, Detroit (Sr., G): Led Detroit in scoring in both conference games this week. Tallied 19 points, six rebounds and four assists versus UIC and scored 16 points, six boards and five assists at Cleveland State.
Imani Gordon, Cleveland State (Sr., F): Averaged 18.5 points and 8.5 rebounds versus Youngstown State and Detroit, just shy of missing double-doubles in each contest.
Tay’ler Mingo, Wright State (Sr., G): Had 23 points, four rebounds and three assists at Milwaukee and tabbed 31 points, four rebounds, four assists and four steals at Valparaiso to lead Wright State.

Top Freshmen of the Week:
Indiya Benjamin, Youngstown State (G): Scored 9 points with four rebounds and a career-high seven assists in the win over Cleveland State.
Darianne Seward, Detroit (G): Grabbed a career-high four steals in each contest for Detroit while collecting her 12th double figure performance at Cleveland State with 12 points.
Leah Somerfield, Oakland (F): Scored 13 points off the bench against Valparaiso while shooting 5-for-7. Averaged 8.5 points and 3.0 rebounds over the week.
Lexi Smith, Wright State (F): Averaged 5.0 points, 2.0 blocks and 4.0 rebounds in games against Milwaukee and Valparaiso.
