Youngstown, Ohio – Asia Polk, a 5-foot-7 guard from Cincinnati State Technical College, has signed a National Letter of Intent to continue her academic and athletic careers at Youngstown State University, Head Coach Tisha Hill announced on Monday.
“Asia has the talent to be an immediate impact to our team,” Hill said. “She brings a tremendous amount of athleticism and experience to the perimeter position. I am extremely excited to have Asia as a part of the program.”
Polk, a native of Cleveland, Ohio, helped guide Cincinnati State to back-to-back Ohio Community College Athletic Conference championships in 2002-03 and 2003-04 and a record of 25-6 this past season.
Last season, Polk averaged six points, three rebounds and two assists per game for the Lady Surge.
Polk is the fourth recruit to sign with the Penguins and joins point guard Lauren Branson (Cincinnati, Ohio), guard My’Kea Cohill (Warrensville Heights, Ohio) and forward Jessica Schloemp (Findlay, Ohio) in the 2004-05 YSU recruiting class.
